Frequently Asked Questions
What does Calendar Event Assistant do?
It finds event invitations in your email and shows them to you one at a time. You click Yes to add an event to your calendar, or No to skip it.
Does anything go on my calendar automatically?
No. An event is added only after you click Yes, and the app says it was added only after Outlook or Google Calendar confirms it.
Which email and calendar accounts can I use?
You can connect your own Outlook inbox, and choose Outlook Calendar or Google Calendar for approved events. Gmail inbox checking isn't open to outside users yet.
Does the app need to be open for invitations to come in?
Right now, automatic inbox checking isn't switched on. Invitations come in when you click Run one test check on the Connected Accounts page. Once automatic checking is switched on, your inbox will be checked even when the app is closed. Invitations that arrive while you're away will wait in your list for next time.
Will I be notified when the app is closed?
Yes, if you turn on Alert me even when the app is closed under Notifications. A pop-up appears in your screen's corner, like Outlook's, even when you're on another website. Your browser (Chrome or Edge) needs to be running. On iPhone, add the app to your Home Screen first and turn the setting on from there. The setting is saved for each device separately.
Why didn't I hear a sound?
Sounds only play while the app is open in a tab or window. Browsers also block sound until you click the page once. If you see Tap to turn on sound, click it. Make sure the speaker button at the top isn't muted, your computer's volume is up, and try the Bell or Chime tone, which are the loudest.
How do I put the app on my desktop or phone?
Click Get app at the top of the assistant and follow the steps for your device. On a computer it opens in its own small window. On a phone it gets its own Home Screen icon.
What does Pop out do?
On a computer using Chrome or Edge, Pop out opens the assistant in a small floating window that stays on top of other websites. It closes when you close the original tab.
Can other people see my invitations?
No. Each person signs in with their own account and sees only their own invitations, history and connected accounts.
What is my Event Approvals password?
It's a password just for this app, separate from your Outlook or Microsoft password. If you signed up with Continue with Microsoft or Continue with Google, you can keep using that button. To add a password, choose Forgot password? on the sign-in page and check your email, including your junk folder.
How do I disconnect my inbox or calendar?
Open Accounts at the top of the assistant, then choose Disconnect next to the account.
How do I delete my account?
Open Delete my account at the bottom of the main screen, type DELETE, and confirm. This permanently removes your account and app data. Events you already added to your calendar stay there. See the Privacy Policy for details.
How do I see the tips again?
Click the ? button at the top of the assistant.
